Cette installation lumineuse – dont le nom suggère la fusion du sommeil et de la lumière – s’appuie sur des données physiologiques de l’artiste enregistrées lors d’une nuit de sommeil.

Activité cérébrale, rythme cardiaque, respiration… constituent la matière première collectée par Justine Emard au Laboratoire d’exploration du sommeil de Toulouse. L’œuvre repose sur l’analyse en temps réel de ces données biologiques qui, interprétées par un programme, génèrent une atmosphère lumineuse évolutive.

Dès l’entrée, le public est ainsi immergé dans une projection mentale du sommeil de l’artiste. Dans cet organisme vivant et changeant, sa perception évolue au gré du parcours, du temps et des imaginaires qui s’y déploient.

This light installation—whose name suggests the fusion of sleep and light—is based on the artist’s physiological data recorded during a night’s sleep.

Created specifically for the Lieu Unique space, Somnolux serves as the central element of the exhibition design, guiding the audience as they explore the works.

Brain activity, heart rate, and breathing constitute the raw data collected by Justine Emard at the Toulouse Sleep Exploration Laboratory. The work is based on the real-time analysis of this biological data, which, when interpreted by a program, generates an ever-changing light atmosphere.

Upon entering, the audience is immersed in a mental projection of the artist’s sleep. Within this living, ever-changing organism, their perception evolves as they move through the space, over time, and in response to the imaginative worlds that unfold there.
