This is a living organism: in the walk-in installations by the French artist Justine Emard, light, colours and sounds merge within a vibrant work of art based on the communication systems of bees. An artificial intelligence trained on the behaviour of swarms of bees translates their movement patterns into light and sound impulses which react to each other, growing and mutating. This results in a »living organism«, which reacts in unpredictable ways and develops independently. The audience delves into a dynamic sphere of perception which combines the possibilities of artificial intelligence with the immediacy of sensual experiences. Justine Emard‘s works occupy the interfaces of video, sculpture and immersive media art. Her works are exhibited internationally, examining the interplay between human beings, nature and technology.

cresc… is funded by Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain. In cooperation withKunstKulturKirche Allerheiligen – Forum für Moderne Kunst und Neue Musik.
